Hey there, coffee Fam! If you’re here, I’m guessing you’re either interested in what my Top 3 brewing methods are or you are looking to switch up your brewing routine. Either way, I am glad that you are here!
I am going to be honest with you! I was not a coffee snob back before I started roasting. A lot of roasters, coffee enthusiasts, or barista's are coffee snobs from the day they start drinking coffee, but that wasn't me. As I began to understand coffee more, I began experimenting with different brewing methods. Over the last few years, I’ve experimented with just about every brewing method out there, but the three that I truly enjoyed the most, and that I strongly recommend are the: Chemex Pour-Over, French Press, and AeroPress. I use each method for different purposes and different Coffee's, but I will explain that more here in a moment, starting with the Chemex Pour-Over.
1. Chemex Pour-Over – The Clean, Balanced Cup
If I had to choose just one brewing method for the rest of my life (a scary thought, I know), it would probably be the Chemex Pour-Over. There’s something calming about it—grinding your beans (from "Origin Essence" of course), blooming the coffee, and slowly pouring in that hot water with your favorite kettle. It’s a process that forces you to slow down and appreciate the craft, being in the moment.

The Chemex produces a clean, crisp cup with bright flavors that shine through, making it perfect for light and medium roasts. The thick paper filters remove a lot of the oils, so if you enjoy clarity in your coffee, this method is for you. Plus, let’s be real—the Chemex itself is a work of art. It looks stunning on any countertop! (Trust me, any coffee nerd is looking for a Chemex when they come over, so if your expecting one to come over, you better pull it out before they get there! At least make it look like you care about your coffee a little bit!) lol
Some of my favorite coffees that I enjoy most with the Chemex Pour-Over are the "Ethiopia Sidamo, Costa Rica Tarrazu, & Nicaragua Jinotega."
2. French Press – The Bold and Full-Bodied Brew
Now, when I’m in the mood for something richer and more indulgent, I am going for my French Press. Unlike the Chemex, this method lets the natural oils and fine particles stay in the coffee, creating a deep, full-bodied brew. If you love a good dark roast with chocolatey, nutty notes, I would highly recommend the French Press.

Not only does it make delicious coffee, It’s also incredibly easy and forgiving. No fancy pouring technique required—just coarse grind your beans, add hot water, stir, steep, and press. I love using this method for those slow Saturday mornings when I just want to enjoy a cup of coffee, with my wife!
Some of my favorite coffees that I enjoy most with the French Press are the "Brazil Cerrado and the Guatemala Santa Rosa"
3. V60 Pour-Over – The Precision Brewer
When I am looking to fine-tune every element of my brew, my go to is the V60 Pour-Over. This method gives you complete control over factors like grind size, water temperature, and pour speed, making it perfect for times when I am experimenting with my coffee.

The V60 produces a bright, clean, and complex cup, allowing delicate flavors to shine. It’s a bit more technical than the Chemex, requiring a steady hand and a mindful pour, but the reward is well worth it. If you love the science behind coffee and enjoy playing with variables to bring out different tasting notes, the V60 is an excellent choice.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, coffee is all about personal preference and experience. Some days, I crave the crisp clarity of a Chemex, while other days call for the rich comfort of a French Press or the precision of a V60. I encourage you to try them all and see which fits your style best!
So, what’s your favorite brewing method? Have you tried all three? Let’s chat in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Happy brewing! ☕
